Tickets can be bought from Lippupalvelu outlets by phone, dialling 0600 10909 from Finland (EUR 2 + local call charge) or +358 303 60030 from other countries.
Tickets for the shows are sold also online.

United Kingdom: fans put DJ Bobo as their favourite from the semis!

More success for DJ Bobo at a UK preview party in Manchester. Over 80 people attended the Manchester Boom Bang A Bang previews - with fans putting Switzerland well ahead of the rest of the semi-finalists. Runner up was Denmark's DQ, and it was no surprise to find favourites like Slovenia and Belarus in the top rankings. However one surprise was that Latvia, which many people see as a possible contender for victory in Helsinki languished in the bottom half of the vote. And who's propping up the others? Poor old Montenegro, with just 5 votes, compared with a massive 372 for DJ Bobo!

Sarbel's chat on ERT

The ERT chat with Sarbel online took place today. At 18:06 Sarbel appeared online and tried to asnwer the questions within a mess and a bomb of messages. Though maximum 34 users attended the chat. Sarbel said that the rehearsals for his choreography have began and they are going great according to him. There will be no instrument used to surprise as Helena did in 2005 but there will be something very 'warm' as he said. He also said he likes Bulgaria, Turkey and Cyprus from the 2007 entries and for his entry he said he hopes to rank well and hopes for the top ten. Responding to a Romanian fan he said he had great time during his visit in Bucharest. He informed us he will wear something 'Greek' in the Eurovision final. He also said he wanted to travel more but there was no time for him. At some point Sarbel is planning concerts in Germany, revealed to his fans. Of course insults on his sexuality took place and ERT's administrators banned the members who posted them. For at least 20 minutes no actual news or discussion was made rather than thanking his few online fans for their support. He also referred to his relation with ERT saying that everyone is great with him and invited everyone to watch ERT every day! (he didn't mention any specific preference on a TV show though). Regarding an international career Sarbel said that he is not moving from Greece to another country as he loves living here. His hobbies revealed to be swimming, tennis, windsurfing and girls. He said he gets great help from his experience with the Opera House and if he wasn't a singer he would want to be an animal doctor. Finally he said he is not nervous for Helsinki and he kept saying 'Yassou' to everyone with no more chat with his few fans online. Besides Greek fans there were fans from Poland, Romania, Cyprus, Serbia. At the end the online users send their positive energy for the best of luck to the artist and the Greek entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007.

Robe to light Eurovision 2007

Finland - Over 450 Robe moving lights will be utilised in a spectacular lighting design for the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest in Helsinki which is being created by LD Mikki Kunttu.

This follows on from the successful 2005 ESC production in Kiev, which featured 350 Robe fixtures. Once again, the show's technical production manager is Ola Melzig, and the production company is Spectra from Sweden. Lighting equipment for the event, staged in Helsinki's 12,000 capacity Hartwall Areena is being supplied by locally based Eastway Oy, and the Robe units will be delivered directly to the show from the Czech Republic.

The ESC deal was cut with Robe's International sales manager Harry von den Stemmen, who comments, "This is take two for Robe at Eurovision, and it is really very exciting to be working with Ola and the Spectra team again. I caught a glimpse of Mikki's ideas for the show, during a start-up meeting, and they were very exciting. I am sure that the final design will look absolutely amazing."

Kunttu, who is working closely with Finnish national TV channel YLE on the show is also very pleased to be working with Robe. His rig will contain 120 ColorSpot 2500E ATs, 90 ColorWash 1200ATs, 120 ColorSpot 1200 ATs, 80 of the new ColorSpot 700E ATs, 60 ColorWash 250 ATs and 8 specially customised Robe Media Spinners that have been modified to hold Studio Due CS4 bars.

For the Green Room, Robe is also supplying 48 of its new StageQube 324 LED panels which will be used for mood lighting and ambient effects. GrandMA consoles will be used as lighting control for the show, which will be run via Ethernet - the most expedient option given the size of the event and the number of fixtures involved.

The load in commences on 17 April and the final is 12 May. Head moving light technician will be Dick Welland from the UK. The Robe fixtures on the show have all been sold to companies in the area and will be delivered to their new owners once the final notes are sung and played, the winner is declared and the de-rig is complete.

HS launches a postcard competition

YLE has been rather secretive about the postcards and Finns have been quite obsessive about the image they will project about Finland and Finns. Now the readers of Helsingin Sanomat can have their say on what Finland should show to Europe and rest of the world. A competition called Suomemme maa (Finland our country) has opened on HS website and the winner gets a trip to the Eurovision 2008 host city.

All we know about the real postcards so far is that there will be 52 of them, directed by various directors and that they are nearly finished. Those 40 second short films will show the host country Finland, its inhabitants and their- occasionally strange and odd habits- to the rest of the world. Finns, by nature very obsessed on what the others think about us, fear the worst, at least on various message boards and chats.

From this point of view Helsingin Sanomat gives its readers a chance to make a postcard the way they want Finland and Helsinki portrayed to foreigners. The competition is free to all Finnish amateurs and the postcards can be seen on the website where you can also leave your comments on them. There is a jury that follows the comments and picks up finalists. The jury includes Heikki Paasonen, the presenter of Euroviisut 2005-2007 and the host of the Finnish previews (first part tomorrow night on YLE2) as well as famous movie director Lauri Törhönen. The will be announced on May 10 and gets a trip for two to next year’s host city, wherever that will be!

Those who don’t have their own videocamera or cellphone can ask for help from Helsingin Sanomat’s street crews that will take over Helsinki in the coming days. The times and places where to find them will be published in Helsingin Sanomat in coming days.

Eurovision is a historical and unusual event in Finland. We want to be part of it” says Kaius Niemi, one of the competition organizers. “Eurovision for Finns has become a matter of self respect and pride over the years, an open wound that seemed never to heal. We were wondering why we never succeeded when Norway and Turkey for example did it. This is a huge opportunity to present Finland and Finns, but I hope it won’t be done too seriously” Niemi concludes.

More information can be found here.

Lordi cancels May 11th concert

Lordi’s concert on May 11th has been cancelled due to scheduling problems, the organizers were informed Thursday night. The 2006 Eurovision Song Contest winners are on a tight schedule, touring Japan before they start rehearsing for their appearance in this year's contest.

Lordi have just left for their tour in Japan and will be back just in time the Eurovision final rehearsals. Some extra time is needed for Eurovision related engagements and the band will not have time for the concert on Friday night. Lordi will go on to the United States right after the final to attend the Bamboozle festival.
The concert in Helsinki Ice hall was scheduled for the night between the semi final and final and Udo Dirkschneider was to perform with them. Other performers were Thunderstorm, the runner up in the Finnish selection this year, and Carmen Gray.

Both Lordi and the organizers apologise to all the fans and the tickets will be fully refunded.

LOCAL NEWSPAPERS ABOUT SITUATION OF HRT AND EBU

Several weeks ago, Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Croatia was a top news. We all know the rules from EBU that every country thats competing in (j)ESC must show a competition live, but this year Croatian Television didnt show Eurovision live.

This year competition happened in Romania, and Croatia was represented by Mateo Đido. The Competion wasnt showed live on HRT, they showed it one day after, and EBU was angry about that. HTV chairman Maria Nemcic thinks that sutrday night isnt the bast night to show children program and she claims that there wasnt any official worning abou that.

She claims also that HRT has sent a proposition to EBU, in which they ask to compete but not to show live the show. If there isnt positive answer we will withdraw from competition. For the same reasones some other countries like France, England and Germany had withdraw.

We add that EBU has sent news to HRT that they must show JESC live, but we also must add that Germany hasnt been ever in this competition.

S. STOCKSELIUS WISH TO SEE CROATIA IN JESC NEXT YEAR

Eurovision-Croatia.com talked once again with Mr. Svante Stockselius. This time we wanted to know more about Junior Eurovision Song Contest and the problem that happened with Croatia. Here is what we managed to find out.

EC: Vecernji list published that HRT lost rights to broadcast this competition so we will not see Croatia in Rotterdam. Is it true?
SS: No, it is not. We do, of course, hope to see Croatia as a participant also this year. But it is too early to tell, the invitations and the new rules have ot yet been sent out.

EC: HRT reacted that they sent request to EBU not to broadcast JESC 2006.
SS: No, they informed us of the plan to broadacst on HRT Plus instead of HRT 1 or 2, only days before the contest. But they never requested not to broadcast at all.

EC: HRT said that they never got note that they MUST broadcast it. Yes?
SS: That is clearly stated in the rules, that was signed by HRT.

EC: Like said HRT, is really the reason why Scandinavian countries, France and UK withdrew that, because of the time when JESC must be broadcast (20:00CET)?
SS: Each member that does not participate probably has their own reasons, I guess. But take Sweden as an example. I doubt that they would continue to participate if the show was not broadcast live on 20:00 CET.

eurovision-croatia.com would like to thank Svante Stockselius.

G. Theofanous' concert for Europe

George Theofanous, composer of three past Cypriot entries (two of them with his ex-wife Evridiki in 1992 and 1994 and lately with ONE in 2002) will present a concert in Cyprus, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome, presenting two famous Greek singers: Marinella (first representative of Greece in ESC – 1974) and Antonis Remos. The composer has set to music extracts and lyrics from the ancient, Byzantine, medieval, literary-folkloric, Cinquecento and contemporary Cypriot literature – testament that the Greek language has being used for centuries in the island. The concert will take place on Wednesday, May 9th (Europe Day), in D' Avila Moat, Nicosia.

Apart from his concert, G. Theofanous talked to Capuccino magazine about that year’s Cypriot and Greek entries: "I like very much the Cypriot song and I'm very enthusiast about singing it in French. I'm sure they will do well. I'm watching them being prepared and I believe they will succeed in their object". "I also hope Sarbel to do well in Helsinki. He can act well on stage and his song has a good melody".

At the moment he's not thinking of coming back in the Contest, as it is not in his priorities now, but if he knew the formula of winning both the impressions and the Contest he would send a song for sure !

Cyprus: Estonian site compares polls and proclaims Evridiki as winner

The bookmakers might claim that Switzerland is the top favourite for Helsinki but Cyprus wins the Eurofan votes. The Estonian website ET Eurostat has gathered all the votes from all the online polls which have online results during the voting period and compared them. The overall comparison shows that Cyprus leads the votes of the Eurofans clearly. The website compares and calculates the overall voting of 15 web polls. Here are the results:

01. Cyprus
02. Greece
03. Serbia
04. Belarus
05. Spain
06. Bulgaria
07. Switzerland
08. Denmark
09. Turkey
10. Slovenia

Portugal: RTP announced the commentators [exclusive]

Isabel Angelino and Jorge Gabriel, hosts of the Portuguese national selection, are going to comment live this year's Eurovision Song Contest. After years of just one person in the commentary, RTP will have, for the first time, two persons to comment the live show. Last year, Eládio Clímaco was in charge of this function. These two known TV 'stars' are also going to prepare some reports, which will be broadcast on the Portuguese main channel during the week of the Eurovision Song Contest.

Η Ευρυδίκη μιλά για τη Eurovision και τον Ελληνικό Τελικό

A month before Eurovision, Evridiki talked this evening to Themis Georgantas show "OK" on MAD TV (Greece).

She has been watching Eurovision since she was a child and has reached to some conclusions maybe a bit different from these of those discovered Eurovision the last years. To her experience (having participated as a solo artist twice already), Eurovision "is a celebration were people have fan" - that simple! The participating countries don't choose a song that represents their culture, but just simple pop songs that people like them. She wanted to take part in Eurovision from when she was a child as she thought that was a way to start her career. However, she believes that artists must do some things before establish a career – that's why she first left Cyprus to study and then chased her dream of becoming a professional singer.

Talking about the Greek National Final she said that a direct proposal to Hristos Dantis should have been made – Dantis' song was her favorite, after all. She believes that after so many years of being a singer and since Hristos expressed his interest to represent Greece, ERT should make a direct proposal to him, just like CyBC did to her. It's an honor for an artist with a long career to be proposed for Eurovision. Nevertheless, she respects the outcome of the Greek Final. As for the promo tour of Comme Ci Comme Ca, she will be in London on April 20th and then in Brussels. Her new album's title is "13" – she likes number 13; this is the 13rd album in her career and it coincidently has 13 tracks. When Themis read a message from a fan saying that "she's in the top lately" – Evridiki answered "I don't feel being in top, I do feel however that I work too much".

The following summer will be singing with Dimitris Korgialas for sure, while, after being asked for the possibility of an international career, she said that if she wanted that, she would have tried sooner, and not that year with Eurovision. However, if anything happens, apparently she wouldn't say no !

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Lordi to Perform at Eurovision Song Contest 2007 Final

Lordi will perform at the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 final in May. The contest generally includes performances by the previous year’s winners, and this year, in Helsinki, will be no exception.

The theme of the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 is True Fantasy. The opening and interval numbers of the semi-final will focus on the word ‘True’, whereas the corresponding events of the final will emphasise the concept of ‘Fantasy’. Having fulfilled the dreams of many Finns and brought the contest home to Finland, Lordi have an unquestionable place in the final.
The semi-final (10 May) and final (12 May) programmes are different in all respects, with the exception of the performances of the ten artists or bands who are chosen to go on from the semi-final to the final. Both shows will be hosted by Jaana Pelkonen and Mikko Leppilampi.

The ultimate party guide by eurovision.tv

Eurovision.tv has published the ultimate party guide for the fans that will not be heading for Helsinki this coming May. Tips, strategies and even pre-designed "official" invitations have been prepared to help you get the most out of the semi and final nights.

The ultimate party in five easy steps according to eurovision.tv:

Step 1: Make it clear whether it is a semi or final party (especially if your friends are not as dedicated as you) to avoid confusion.

Step 2: Send out invitations! An sms or phone call should be enough, but a real invitation will make the difference. Plan ahead and send them out well in advance so that you ensure that as many friends as possible join you. You can dowload and print the "official" party invitations here.

Step 3: Food and drink - get plenty of it! Do it the Finnish way too. Takeaway is always a great solution, but why not try something different this year? You can find lots of Finnish recipes here! If you are rooting for Hanna, then the Hanna-tädin piparkakut biscuits are a must!

Step 4: Get them in the mood! Create the ultimate Eurovision atmosphere by getting well in advance the official mugs to serve your drinks in or start the evening by playing the official Board Game.

Step 5: Be a professional fan! Print out blank score sheets (if you do not have your own, eurovision.tv will be providing for you later on) and keep track of your favourites. Also you can launch a prediction game with a prize or two for the winner.

And remember that this year YLE promise the best transmission ever offering a choice of superb audio (5.1)and video technology available (HD). So if your broadcaster offers the possibility to take advantage of this make sure you get your HD ready TV set in time. Here you can find some more information on HD broadcasting on the BBC HD site.

Kirka remembered by fellow Euroviisut stars

Espoo’s Länsiauto Areena hosted a great gala concert with nearly 20 Finnish Euroviisut veterans. Kirka (Finland 1984 with Hengaillaan), who was supposed to take part was touchingly remembered by his collegues. He passed away last week at the age of 56. The concert will be televised by YLE later this spring.

Hardly anyone was able to hold back the tears on stage or in the audience when half way through the concert Matti “Fredi” Siitonen (Finland 1967 and 1976) and Pepe Willberg dedicated a song to Kirka. They sung one of Kirka’s biggest hits, Silta yli synkän virran, the only non Eurovision Song Contest related song in the concert. Each of the artists in the concert brought a red rose to a vase on stage during the song and most were visibly touched.

You can see a short video clip of it here with interviews with Ami Aspelund (1983), Laura Voutilainen (2002), Kojo (1982), Marion (1962, 1973), Katri Helena (1979, 1993), Viktor Klimenko (1965), Markku Aro (1971), Cat Cat (1994), Tapani Kansa, Kisu, Pepe Willberg and the rose ceremony.

Laura Voutilainen, who will participate in the last Euroviisut semi final tomorrow night was one of the most shaken artist. She was a close friend to Kirka, and collaborated with him all through her career. “It has been a very rough week” she admits.

YLE will broadcast the concert on TV later this spring as part of the building up to the Eurovision song contest 2007.
